About the League

Commissioner: Steve Ryan

The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) replaced the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in August of 2001 as an eight-team single-entity professional indoor soccer circuit. It strengthened its position in the United States by accommodating the merger of the World Indoor Soccer League at the end of 2001. The new MISL was originally founded in 1984 as the American Indoor Soccer Association, adopting the NPSL banner prior to the 1990-91 season.

The 2003-04 MISL season consists of eight teams playing a 36-game schedule from mid-September through March with its playoffs to follow in the last week of the month. As the country’s oldest professional indoor soccer league (now in its 19th season), the MISL is broken down into two divisions beginning in the 2002-03 campaign: Eastern Conference – Baltimore Blast, Cleveland Force, Harrisburg Heat, Philadelphia Kixx; Western Conference – Dallas Sidekicks, Kansas City Comets, Milwaukee Wave, San Diego Sockers. The Baltimore Blast are the defending champions.
