U.S. Soccer

Orlando City SC (MLS) 2, Columbus Crew SC (MLS) 0 (SOUTH)
Though putting out a weaker lineup than the one that faced Real Salt Lake at the weekend, visiting Columbus Crew SC gave the home side a scare early when Ben Speas’ cross picked out Adam Bedell, who put his effort off the post in the fourth minute. Slowly, Orlando grasped possession of the game and broke through in the 21st minute when Darwin Ceren picked up a loose ball in the box and laid back for Kaka who finished from the edge of the area to make it 1-0.

Orlando increased their advantage in the 34th minute as a ball poked outside of the area to Carlos Rivas, who first timed an absolute screamer past Brad Stuver to take the Lions into the half up 1-0.

Columbus nearly pulled one back just after the break when Kristinn Steindórsson’s diving header was stopped by Orlando ‘keeper Sean St. Ledger in the 48th minute. The Crew came close again in the 79th minute when Aaron Schoenfeld’s flick found Tyson Wahl, whose half-volley went just wide of St. Ledger’s goal. Orlando absorbed the Columbus pressure and closed out the match to advance to a Quarterfinal date away to the Chicago Fire.
