Because of the overwhelming demand, the FIFA Ticketing Sub-Committee has decided that the FIFA World Cup(tm) Ticket Application site will remain closed until after the random selection process is complete. This will take place on Tuesday 15 May 2001.
Many of the ticket series have been over-subscribed, meaning that many applicants will be unsuccessful. Letters will be posted on 16 or 17 May 2001 to the main applicant on each ticket application, confirming whether the application has been selected and will therefore be fulfilled (subject to payment), or whether it has been unsuccessful.
The FIFA World Cup(tm) Ticket Application website will reopen at 15:00 (GMT) on 16 May 2001 to enable registered users to view the status of their application, but it will not be possible to make ticket applications at this time. The Ticket Application Site will re-open for applications in the intermediate sales phase at midnight Korea/Japan time (15:00 GMT) on Wednesday 23 May 2001.
The 2002 FIFA World Cup(tm) Ticketing Bureau (WCTB), which is implementing FIFA's ticketing policy, undertakes all international ticket sales on behalf of football's world governing body.
