USA Deaf Soccer Assocciation Names Peter Cornell Head Coach
CHICAGO (Friday, April 26, 2002) - The USA Deaf Soccer Association (USADSA) has named father/son duo Peter R. Cornell and Kyle K. Cornell as the team's new head and assistant coaches, respectively.

CHICAGO (Friday, April 26, 2002) - The USA Deaf Soccer Association (USADSA) has named father/son duo Peter R. Cornell and Kyle K. Cornell as the team's new head and assistant coaches, respectively. The two will begin preparing the team for the 2005 world championship schedule for Australia.
Coaches' from across the nation submitted their soccer resumes to USADSA where a careful screening process over the past month by the organization's coaching committee took place.
Peter Cornell has coached and has been involved in the administrative end of the sport for over 27 years on various levels including recreational, select and Olympic Development. Peter's teams have played in seven State Championship Finals, winning three titles and advancing to compete in the Far West Regionals.
Two of his teams were chosen to play in the prestigious Nike International Premier Cup, and he coached longtime U.S. Men's National Team goalkeeper Kasey Keller.
Kyle Cornell has also coached at various levels and has taken three teams to the state quarterfinals and participated in the Nike International Premier Cup twice. Kyle also coached WSYSA ODP at the district level in the past.
Both Peter and Kyle currently reside in Georgia and have coached deaf soccer players previously.
The men's USA Team finished 10th in the world in Rome, Italy in July 2001 beating the gold medallist and host Italy 2-1. The women's team finished first in Belgium in April last year, maintaining their undefeated record.
The USADSA will hold a USA deaf soccer tryouts for both men and women national soccer teams in Sioux Fall, South Dakota, from May 31 to June 2, 2002.
