Galavision will be the home of a majority of matches (18 televised, 13 of them live), mostly during the group phase of the tournament, while TeleFutura will carry 14 matches (all live), including the last seven matches of the championship – three of the four quarterfinals, both semifinals, the third place match, and the final.
Coverage of the event begins this Saturday, September 20, as Norway and France open the tournament with a noon ET kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, with TeleFutura’s live coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET.
TeleFutura will broadcast two of the host United States’ opening-round matches, while Galavision will carry the other. The U.S. vs. Sweden match on Sunday, September 21, will be shown live on TeleFutura at 12:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, September 27, fans will have the treat of watching the dramatic conclusion of Groups B & C play out with simultaneous coverage of matches on both networks. At 12:30 p.m. ET on September 27, Galavision will show the action live as Korea Republic (South Korea) and Norway face off in Foxboro, Mass. at the same time that France and Brazil face off in Washington, D.C., on TeleFutura with Group B’s places in the quarterfinals likely still in dispute. At 3:15 p.m. ET that same day, Group C’s quarterfinalists will be determined as Canada and Japan battle on Galavision, live from Foxboro, while Argentina and Germany take the field in Washington, with TeleFutura bringing the action to your home or favorite viewing locale.
As the tournament moves from the group phase into the quarterfinals, coverage of the event will shift to TeleFutura, as Galavision will show just one quarterfinal (Wednesday, October 1, at 4:30 p.m. ET) before TeleFutura airs the final seven matches of the tournament, concluding with the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA 2003 Final from the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Sunday, October 12, live at 12:30 p.m. ET.
