The four nomination categories include Best Soccer Bar, Best Soccer Blog, Best Soccer Specialty Store and Best Fan Photo, where fans are asked to post personal photos that have the chance to be chosen as a nominee. During the nomination process ussoccer.com is calling on national team supporters to make their voices heard by submitting their favorites and discussing the nominations in the forums on ussoccer.com.
Fans who want to provide a personal photo for Best Fan Photo can do so by posting pictures on the Best of U.S. Soccer Forum on ussoccer.com. Participants will be able to follow along throughout the 2009 “Best of” Awards by leaving comments and keeping abreast of the latest voting news and developments on ussoccer.com.
The full list of awards will be announced on Monday, Nov. 23 and winners will be decided by a period of fan voting in which soccer fans around the country can review nominees, watch video and decide which entrant they deem most worthy of the prize. General voting in all the categories (which will be announced at a later date) will open on Monday, Nov. 23, and fans will have nearly three weeks to vote. The winners of the 2009 Best of U.S. Soccer Awards will be announced shortly thereafter on ussoccer.com.
Voting for U.S. Soccer's Athletes of the Year will also begin on Nov. 23, allowing fans to vote for the most deserving player during the same period as general voting for the “Best of” Awards. As in years past, votes registered at ussoccer.com will be tallied and equivalent to 50 percent of the votes, while the other 50 percent will be represented by votes compiled from members of the media and U.S. Soccer representatives. Last year, Tim Howard and Carli Lloyd won the 2008 U.S. Soccer Male and Female Athletes of the Year, respectively.2009 Best of U.S. Soccer Awards
