Club: FC Dallas
Previously called into the U-15 and U-17 U.S. Youth National Team camps in 2008, defender Samuel “Jack” Coleman is a new member of the U-15/16 FC Dallas Academy team. During the weekend of Oct. 10th and 11th, he contributed to FC Dallas’s 3-0 win over Solar SC. Coleman has anchored the FC Dallas defense in a successful start to the 2009-10 campaign, holding opponents to 3 goals in 4 games. Up next for FC Dallas is a key home stand against divisional opponents Texas Rush and Houston Dynamo the weekend of Oct. 24th and 25th.
U-17/18: Christian Diaz
Club: Santa Cruz County Breakers
Christian Diaz of the U-17/18 Santa Cruz County Breakers Academy team scored his first three goals of the season in a 7-2 victory over the U-17/18 Cal Odyssey Academy team. The Watsonville, California native netted the hat trick in his team’s first win of the 2009-10 season. The Breakers will close out the October schedule with a match against DeAnza Force on Oct. 25th.
Academy Referee of the Week: Conrad Garcia
Hometown: San Leandro, California
Grade: 7
Conrad Garcia had a stand out performance in this past weekend's U-15/16 Academy matchup between Santa Cruz County Breakers and Cal Odyssey at Cabrillo College. The 1-1 draw was Garcia's second game of the 2009-10 Academy season, but he has been officiating in the Academy since the program's launch in 2007. Garcia started his officiating career in 2001 and is currently working to become a grade 6 referee.
