Brandon Ward has been selected as the Development Academy Referee of the Week for a commendable performance in the U-15/16 match between Texas Division opponents Houston Dynamo and Dallas Texans on Sept. 18.
Ward, originally from Alabama, began refereeing in 1994 following a college playing career at the University of Mobile. A few years ago, he relocated to Texas where he continued his refereeing career. Ward explains that his new state association has played an important part in helping him develop. “I have been very fortunate,” he writes “to be able to benefit from the excellent Referee Development Program Texas South has in place. We have a number of amazing referees, mentors, assessors and administrators.” In addition to Development Academy matches, he has also officiated MLS reserve, PDL and youth regional matches.
