GROENLO, Netherlands (May 26, 2012) – The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team started the International Marveld Tournament with a 5-0 win against Feyenoord, with Malcolm Dixon scoring twice and Ben Swanson, Max Steigwardt and Amir Bashti adding one each.
Swanson opened the scoring in the 13th minute, pouncing on a deflection and finishing from six yards out. Two minutes later, Mukwelle Akale dribbled around a defender in the box before being taken down, leaving the ball loose in the area. Dixon hammered home the rebound from 12 yards out.
In the 25th minute, the U.S. notched a third goal when Cameron Lindley crossed it in to the back post for Steigwardt, who sent in the header just left of the goalkeeper.
Bashti scored off a short corner in the 49th minute, dribbling into the box and shooting low and into the net. Dixon rounded out the scoring with a well-taken penalty kick in the 67th minute.
