The 2010-11 Development Academy Finals Week U-17/18 runner-up FC Dallas did not concede a goal during the 2011-12 Development Academy Playoffs and reached its third straight Academy Finals Week.

How they got to Finals Week: The only team to register three straight shutouts in group play at the Development Academy Playoffs, FC Dallas is peaking at the right time. FC Dallas tore through the month of June without allowing a goal and only conceded 13 goals in 24 Texas Division games during the regular season. Shutouts against McLean Youth Soccer, Real Salt Lake AZ and Sockers FC in the Academy Playoffs secured the club’s spot in Houston.

Finals Week and Academy Playoffs History: FC Dallas is making its third straight appearance at Development Academy Finals Week. The club suffered a 2-1 loss to Pateadores in the championship match last year in Milwaukee. In that match, Danny Garcia was sent off in the 58th minute with FC Dallas trailing 1-0, but the club scored a shorthanded equalizer before Pateadores finally closed the door with a game-winning goal in the 81st minute.

2011-12 Regular Season: The MLS-affiliated team dominated the Texas Division with a 20-3-1 record. Overall, FC Dallas had a 24-4-3 record and conceded 19 goals in 31 regular-season games. That 0.61 goals allowed per game total was the lowest among all U-17/18 teams. Shattuck-Saint Mary’s led the age group with only 17 goals allowed, but did so playing 10 fewer games than FC Dallas.

About head coach Chris Hayden: A native of Dallas, Hayden played collegiate soccer at the University of North Texas from 1986-89 while earning a degree in Business Administration. Hayden also played professionally for the Dallas Sidekicks of the Continental Indoor Soccer League from 1994-96. He holds a USSF A coaching license and serves as Director of Coaching for the FC Dallas Academy.
