U.S. Under-15 BNT Wins Twice Against Development Academy Competition

CHICAGO (Sept. 5, 2012) – The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team is currently involved in a week-long training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The camp marks the conclusion of the cycle of players born in 1997.

On Sept. 4, split squads of the U-15 BNT – there are 36 players in the camp – squared off against U.S. Soccer Development Academy sides Real So Cal and Chivas USA.

Against Real So Cal, the U-15 BNT registered a 4-1 win, outshooting the southern California club 9-4 (including 7-2 on frame). The U.S. took a 3-0 lead in the first 53 minutes before Real So Cal got on the score sheet in the 65th minute. Alejandro Vergara tallied his second goal of the game in the 69th minute to provide the final score line. Vergara scored his first goal in the 24th minute off an assist by Alexander Ramos.

Malcolm Dixon started the scoring for the U.S. in the 22nd minute and Kyle Scott added another goal in the 53rd minute.

In the next match, the second group of U-15 BNT players edged out Chivas USA 2-1 in a come-from-behind victory.

After going down 1-0 in the 39th minute, Joe Gallardo and Sebastian Saucedo scored in the second half to lead the U.S. to a win.

Gallardo knotted the score at 1-1 in the 63rd minute and Saucedo tallied the game-winner in the 78th minute on an assist from Coy Craft.

The U-15 BNT is scheduled to play two more Academy clubs – Arsenal FC and the LA Galaxy – on Thursday, Sept. 6, at The Home Depot Center before closing training camp on Sept. 8.
