Boston Breakers Defeat U.S. Under-19 Women's National Team, 1-0, in WUSA Preseason Action
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Sunday, March 25, 2001) - The Boston Breakers posted a shutout victory in their 1-0 win over the Under-19 U.S. National Team, Sunday at Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.

The Under-19 team came out strong in the first half, challenging every 50-50 ball. The Breakers broke through the U.S. defense in the 23rd minute of the half. The U.S. team failed to clear the ball as Breaker midfielder Tina August headed the ball to Dagny Mellgren. Mellgren placed the ball far post past diving U.S. goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.
In the second half, the U.S. team had a number of chances off of six corner kicks. Breaker keeper Karina LeBlanc (four saves) came up big on three attempts, while the defense cleaned up the other chances.
