CHICAGO (Tuesday, August 28, 2001) - The New England Revolution announced today that ticket sales for the Sunday, October 7th, United States Men's National Team World Cup Qualifier at Foxboro Stadium have climbed past the 25,000 mark. The USA will host Jamaica at 2:00 PM as the team puts its 6-0-3 unbeaten record at Foxboro Stadium on the line in the last international match to be played at this venue. Foxboro Stadium will be replaced by the new CMGI Field, which is scheduled to open its doors to soccer in 2002.
"It won't be over before Foxboro, there is no question in my mind", United States National Team Head Coach Bruce Arena said. "It will be great to get six points against Honduras (Sept. 1st) and Costa Rica (Sept. 5th), but I assume that this game (Oct. 7th) will be the one to get us to the 2002 World Cup."
The U.S. Men's National Team, currently tied for first place in the Football Confederation's standings for the World Cup Qualifying, will battle Honduras on Saturday, September 1st, at RFK Stadium. Bruce Arena's squad will then face Costa Rica on Wednesday, September 5th, at Saprissa Stadium before returning to New England to host Jamaica in a game where they could virtually clinch a ticket for the 2002 Japan/Korea World Cup. Former Revolution striker Joe-Max Moore, midfielder Claudio Reyna and forward Landon Donovan are expected to be in uniform in Foxboro attempting to lead the American squad to its fifth World Cup tournament and close a decade of undefeated soccer at this historic venue.
Category One and Category Two seats are sold out, but good seats still remain available. Ticket prices for the important World Cup qualifier are $30 and $35. Groups of 20 or more people can purchase tickets at discount prices of $20 (regularly $30) and $25 (regularly $35). All tickets purchased the day of the game will be $5 more.
