CHICAGO (December 8, 2005) — Continuing the performance of delivering the most exclusive, extensive coverage of the important events in U.S. Soccer, ussoccer.com’s DrawTracker will provide blanket coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Final Draw being held Friday, Dec. 9 in Leipzig, Germany. Fans will be able to follow DrawTracker beginning at 3 p.m. ET that afternoon, with team selection scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. ET.

FIFA announced Tuesday the eight seeded teams that will be placed atop the eight groups, as well as the pots containing the balance of the 32 team field. The U.S. was placed in Pot 4 alongside fellow CONCACAF countries Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago, as well as the four Asian qualifiers (Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea). With Mexico being placed as one of eight seeds in Pot 1, the U.S. will be placed in a group with one of the other seeded teams: Germany, Brazil, Argentina, England, France, Italy or Spain. The remaining two U.S. opponents will come one each from Pot 2 (Australia, Africa and South American) and Pot 3 (Europe).
