Jermaine Jones Out With Calf Injury
CHICAGO (Feb. 25, 2012) – U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Jermaine Jones has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming training camp because of a right calf strain suffered earlier this week. Jones had captained the U.S. in the previous two matches, a pair of 1-0 wins against Venezuela and Panama last month.
U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has indicated that Jones will not be replaced on the roster, reducing the squad to 20 players.
The group begins reporting to Genoa on Sunday afternoon in preparation for the match on Feb. 29 against Italy. Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. local time (2:45 ET), and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3 and Galavision.
