Former England International to Continue with his Duties with the National Team
U.S. goalkeeper coach Chris Woods has been added to the staff of reigning Premier League champions Manchester United, following former Everton manager David Moyes to Old Trafford and one of the most storied clubs in history.
Woods will continue in his role as goalkeeper coach for the Men’s National Team, a position he has held since October of 2011. As originally planned, he will remain in England and not travel to the United States for the Gold Cup.
“We are thrilled for Chris and the huge opportunity in front of him,” said U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. “He is a top-class goalkeeper coach, and we extremely fortunate to have him as part of our staff. We have had a great working relationship with David Moyes, and we know that he and his team are going to have great success at Manchester United.”
Woods enjoyed a playing career that lasted more than 20 years and included multiple league championships and two FIFA World Cups.
