NOTE: The USA will play UAG Tecos (Mexico) today, March, 29 at 2:00 p.m. CT and conclude first-round play on Wednesday, March 31, against SC Corinthians. UAG Tecos lost to SC Corinthians (Brazil) 3-0 in their opening match. The top two finishers from each group advance to the quarterfinals on April 2. The USA suffered to major blows in their defensive line with injuries to Alexander Yi (Easton, MD) and Oguchi Onyewu (Olney,MD). Yi strained his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and is expected to return to Bradenton, Fla. for further examination. Oguchi Onyewu suffered a strained right hip-flexor and is questionable for the remainder of the Dallas Cup. The U-17s are in preparation for their home-and- home playoff series against El Salvador for the third and final CONCACAF berth for the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Championship to be hosted by New Zealand in November. The first leg of the playoff series will be played on May 9 in El Salvador at Flora Blanco Stadium (kickoff - 3:00 p.m. local time). The second leg will be played at the Columbus Crew Stadium on May 22 and will be the first of an MLS doubleheader - kickoff is at 4:00 p.m. ET.
