U.S. U-18 WNT Comes to the HDC for Training Camp

U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team head coach Dave Chesler will bring 24 players to a training camp at The Home Depot Center from April 10-17 that will run almost concurrently with the U.S. U-20 WNT camp.

CHICAGO (April 5, 2010) -- U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team head coach Dave Chesler will bring 24 players to a training camp at The Home Depot Center from April 10-17 that will run almost concurrently with the U.S. U-20 WNT camp. All of the players in with the U-18s are age-eligible to compete in the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and will be trying to make an impact on the U-20 coaching staff with the possibility of an invite into events before U-20 head coach Jill Ellis chooses her squad for the U-20 WWC in Germany. The U.S. U-18s will face UC Irvine, the U.S. U-20s and a W-League team during camp. Among the five goalkeepers called in with the U-18s is U-17 WNT starter and high school sophomore Bryane Heaberlin, who has performed extremely well with the U-17s this year. Chesler also has a talented group of strikers in Michelle Cruz from Real So Cal, Kealia Ohai from the Utah Avalanche, Courtney Procter from Slammers FC, Katie Stengel from Florida’s Space Coast United and Chioma Ubogagu from D’Feeters out of Texas. The U.S. U-18s were most recently together at the La Manga Tournament in Spain in early March where they defeated the U-19 squads of Germany and Sweden, but lost to Norway.
