U20 MNT vs Spain Reaction June 21 2013

Following the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team’s 4-1 loss to Spain in the opener of the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, head coach Tab Ramos, midfielder Mikey Lopez and defender DeAndre Yedlin provided their thoughts of the match.

Under-20s: Heading into the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Lopez has played in nine game with six starts and logged 625 minutes this year. Lopez was a fixture of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship squad that tok second place and qualified for the World Cup in Turkey. Lopez played in both of the U-20 MNT’s games against Panama in January in Puebla to prepare for the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. He was a regular fixture in 2012 with five starts and nine games played in 2012, logging 455 minutes … Under-18s: Lopez participated in February and April training camps and traveled to Argentina and Portugal in 2012. Under-15s: Lopez attended a U-15 training camp in 2008.

Lopez was selected by Sporting Kansas City with the 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. he made his professional debut with a start in Sporting's 2-0 victory against the Des Moines Menace on may 29, 2013, in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Lopez played in two seasons with North Carolina, starting in all 21 matches during the 2012 campaign with two goals and an assist. In 2011, Lopez was named the ACC Freshman of the Year when he made 25 appearances and scored three goals and added four assists.
