U.S. U-17 WNT Heads to Florida for Training Camp

The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team, under new head coach Dean Duerst, opened training camp last weekend in Sunrise, Fla., with 24 players.

The camp will run until April 21, during which time the team will scrimmage the University of Miami as well as several boys club teams. The match against Miami will take place on Tuesday, April 17, in Coral Gables, with a kickoff of 5:30 p.m. ET.

This will be Duerst’s first camp officially at the helm, after running the previous training camp as the interim head coach.

A member of the U.S. team that won the 2010 CONACAF U-20 Women’s Championships in Guatemala to earn a berth to the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup … She started all five games of the tournament at center-back … Played in 19 total matches for the USA in 2010 before the U-20 Women’s World Cup, starting all but one, and also appeared in 14 international games … Started training with the U-20s in January of 2009 … Played for the U.S. U-18s over 2007 and 2008 … Played for the U.S. U-17s in 2006.

Played youth club for Space Coast United and won state titles at the U-17 and U-18 levels in 2007 and 2008 ... Played U-11 through U-16 with the 3 Lions Soccer Club … Played with the Boston Renegades of the W-League during the summer of 2008 ... Played with the Washington Freedom of the W-League during the summer of 2009.

Full name is Toni Deion Pressley … Majoring in criminology … Is a true left-footed player … Has seven tattoos … Competed on the track and field team at West Shore claiming a district and regional championship in 2005 as a member of the 4x100m relay while winning the 2007 district championship in the shot put … Loves animals, especially cats and giraffes … Favorite color is purple.

As a sophomore in 2009, she switched from forward to left back and started all 25 games for the Seminoles … One of the leaders on the team in minutes played while scoring two goals with six assists … As a freshman in 2008, she appeared in all 23 games for Florida State, starting four games … Netted her first collegiate goal against the Florida International scoring on a header … Finished the year with four goals and an assist ... Played in all 10 ACC regular season games posting a pair of goals … Played in all four games in the Seminoles' postseason run to the NCAA Quarterfinals … Attended West Shore Jr/Sr High School where she was a team captain and as a senior led her team to the Class 3A Regional finals ...
