Injuries Sideline Steven Beitashour and Edson Buddle for Remainder of U.S. MNT’s January Camp

CHICAGO (Jan. 22, 2013) – San Jose Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour and Colorado Rapids forward Edson Buddle have been sidelined with injuries and have departed the U.S. Men’s National Team training camp in Carson, Calif.

No replacements will be added to the roster. The team continues to prepare for the opening match of 2013, the friendly on Jan. 29 against Canada at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

Beitashour continues to struggle with a sports hernia that required surgery following the end of the 2012 MLS season. He has returned to San Jose to be evaluated by the team medical staff to determine the next course of action. This was Beitashour’s second time in a U.S. camp under Jurgen Klinsmann, having joined the squad in Mexico City for the historic 1-0 win against Mexico last August.

Buddle is experiencing problems in his right knee, which he previously injured last June. The Rapids medical staff will do further testing in Colorado. The 2010 FIFA World Cup veteran appeared as a sub in the USA’s first win against Italy last February in Genoa.
