U.S. Women's National Team Falls 2-1 to England

In the U.S. Women’s National Team’s first match in England, the U.S. fell to the hosts 2-1 in front of a boisterous crowd at Brisbane Road. Megan Rapinoe scored the lone goal for the Americans in the first half after the U.S. went behind by two goals early in the match. The USA's next matches for U.S. are domestic friendlies with Japan on May 14 in Columbus, Ohio and May 18 in Cary, N.C.

The U.S. Women’s National Team will play its first match in England when it faces the host on April 2 at Matchroom Stadium in east London, home to English League One side Leyton Orient. Matchroom Stadium, also known as Brisbane Road, seats just more than 9,000 fans. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET. U.S. U-23 Women Down England, 1-0, on 90th Minute Goal

March 14, 2008

BURTON, England (March 12, 2008) – The U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team avenged a 3-1 loss to the England U-23 WNT last February in Spain with a 1-0 win in Burton, England, northwest of Birmingham. The University of Florida’s Ashlee Elliott scored in the 90th minute to give the USA a deserved victory in which they out-shot England, 19-4.
