"The Soap Boxx" - Third Entry
Sep. 28, 2003
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003) - The streak is over, but Shannon Boxx isn't disappointed. Boxx, who became the first player in U.S. Women’s National Team history to score a goal in each of her first three caps, started her fourth straight game against Nigeria on Thursday, but the hard-nosed midfielder couldn't find the back of the net for a fourth time. No worries though, Boxx's contributions to the U.S. team go far beyond goal scoring and she wasn't planning on breaking Mia Hamm's world scoring record anytime soon anyway. As the USA gets set to face North Korea and push on to the quarterfinals, check out Boxx's third installment of "The Soap Boxx," an ongoing journal chronicling the Women's World Cup rookie's journey through her first world championship tournament.
