WNT Mar 29, 2010
A solid win for the U.S. WNT yesterday at Torero Stadium and it was nice to see Amy Rodriguez get off the schnide with an excellent goal in the 12th minute. Shannon Boxx scored a scrappy one right before halftime and then Lauren Cheney added her team-leading fifth goal of the year in the second half. One of the more amusing moments came after the game when Abby Wambach told the media that it was much nicer to walk up the notoriously steep hill from the field to the locker rooms at Torero Stadium instead of being taken out via an ambulance, as was the case last time she played at the venue in July of 2008 when she broke her leg. Only nine players will train this morning in San Diego before the team leaves for Salt Lake City this afternoon. The U.S. team will have one training at Rio Tinto Stadium tomorrow before facing Mexico live on ESPN2 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MT. If you live somewhere that doesn't get ESPN2, say Timbuktu or Bora Bora, fans can also follow on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker.
