As the U.S. Soccer Development Academy action picks up locally, there are some Academy players taking their game outside of the country.
The Santa Cruz Breakers U-15/16 team gets set for the Mondial Montaigu tournament starting Friday, April 6, in France, while the New England Revolution U-15/16 pool formed a U-17 team to compete in the 2012 Future Champions Gauteng tournament in South Africa. Santa Cruz opens its tournament with a match against Toulouse FC on April 6, followed FC Nantes and AJ Auxerre on April 7.
The Revolution played a couple of matches early this week, opening with a 3-0 loss to South African side the Orlando Pirates on Monday, March 26, but bouncing back with a 3-3 draw against South Africa’s SAFA School of Excellence on Tuesday, March 27. Gabe Gissie, Guy Kabala and Amadu Kunateh each posted a goal for the Revolution.
