In Back Home with Christie Rampone, she took us to Monmouth University, where she was a two-sport star in basketball and soccer. She went to Monmouth on a basketball scholarship, but as a forward scored 79 goals for the Hawks and left an indelible mark on the school’s athletic history. How often does an Olympic and World Cup champion come from Monmouth? Not often, so the school also has a special place in Christie’s heart. We visited the gymnasium where she was the starting point guard and the soccer field where she scored so many goals. She reflects on her career, how a shy girl rose from being an unknown at a small school who was more focused on basketball to captain the U.S. National Team. Truly a great story.
