Former USA midfielder Kristine Lilly completed the Boston Marathon on Monday.
During her brilliant and lengthy playing career, former U.S. midfielder Kristine Lilly always said that she wanted to run a marathon when she was done playing.
Well, she’s done it.
According to www.baa.org, Lilly finished the race in 964th place in her division, 5,058th among women and 13,773rd overall during Monday’s Boston Marathon with a time of 4:27:45.
The USA’s Ironwoman played 28,700 minutes during her career – the most for any player in history.
Soccer players can cover maybe six or seven miles during a 90-minute game on average, but that is only a fraction of the 26.2-mile marathon trek. Lilly, a 40-year-old mother of two, powered out her first 13.1 miles of the Boston Marathon in 2 hours and 4 minutes.
