WNT Jan 28, 2010
Today was the second day off from training during this camp and it came at a good time, with more than a few players starting to feel the strain on their legs of about nine hard days of practices so far. The weather was mercifully beautiful today in the Los Angeles area (don't you hate when you are a soccer player and it rains on one of the few days off during camp?), so the players took the chance to hit the beach, the mall, some movies and of course, some naps. Pretty standard stuff for the WNT. About 20 players took part in an optional team dinner at The Tin Roof in Manhattan Beach (highly recommend by the WNT Blog: great food, great service, great ambiance) and if you know the WNT well, you know the players can eat. And eat they did. Tonight will feature some good sleep for the team before hitting the field again tomorrow for a mid-day training, followed by some team building tomorrow afternoon. The U.S. team has 11 more practices scheduled before the end of camp, giving U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage plenty of time to settle on the final roster of players she will take to the 2010 Algarve Cup in Portugal.
