CONCACAF has announced that the draw for its 2012 Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament that will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from Jan. 19-29, will be held on this coming Monday, October 24 at 2:00 PM ET. The draw will take place in Vancouver.
All matches of the tournament will be played at Vancouver's newly renovated BC Place Stadium with the top two teams qualifying for the 2012 Women's Olympic Football Tournament.
The draw will split eight countries into two, four-team groups. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, with winners of the semifinals each earning tickets to London.
A confirmed match schedule will be released at a later date. The eight teams in the draw are host Canada, Costa Rica and Guatemala from Central America, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti from the Caribbean as well as North American entrants Mexico and the USA United States..
The United States has won both previous CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournaments, defeating Mexico 3-2 in the final of the 2004 competition and Canada (6-5 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw) in the 2008 championship match.
