You may have read in an earlier Blog post about how Landon Donovan's ridiculously dramatic goal against Algeria induced labor in a woman from Harrisburg, Pa.We were joking about the baby being named Landon, or someone variation thereof, but as it turns out, that's exactly what happened...well, sort of. We'll let "Chad the Dad" as we are calling him tell the story via this email we received from the proud papa.
Name: Chad Mckay
Subject: World Cup Baby Update
Message: Donovan's goal came after a very long wait. So did the baby. On Thursday 6/24/2010 at 8:33 a.m. (20 hours later) Kendall Landon McKay was born. She was 8 pounds even 20 inches. Her name was going to be Kendall Casey McKay, but with the way it all happened we just had to change the name. The three of us with be cheering on the U.S. on Saturday, but it will be from home this time.
Now, we've heard several baby girls being named Mia, but this could be a first. If Kendall eventually grows up to play for the U.S. Women's National Team, she'll have a great story to tell. Heck, she has a great story to tell no matter what for the rest of her life.
So thanks to the Mckay's for what really is a nice gesture for Landon Donovan, who surely inspired people all across America in many different ways.
