The U.S. team trained this morning, had lunch (and the usual press conference) and then departed for Rustenburg around 2:15 p.m. A two-hour drive, much of which was through sand-colored grasslands, dotted with small trees and shrubs as far as the eye could see, took the USA to its hotel here in Rustenburg that sits on a game reserve. Two large elephants greeted the team as it rolled through the gates, which featured signs saying "No Pets" (we think they would probably get eaten) and "Do Not Leave Your Car. Dangerous Animals." The team got its usual enthusiastic greeting wherever it has arrived anywhere in South Africa, had a few tasty fruit beverages, went to their rooms to set down their luggage and then most of the players took a walk around the grounds to see if they could spot any more animals.
