Houston Dynamo forward Will Bruin, a former St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy player, was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 11, the league announced Monday.
Bruin had a stellar performance during Houston’s 4-0 road victory against D.C. United last Wednesday, scoring two goals and assisting the Dynamo’s other two goals.
Bruin has four goals and three assists in 10 games in his third MLS season. He set a Dynamo franchise record with 16 goals in all competitions in 2012 with 12 regular-season goals and four postseason tallies.
In other MLS play with Academy ties, Dillon Powers (Andromeda FC) scored an insurance goal as the Colorado Rapids blanked the Columbus Crew 2-0 last Saturday in Columbus, ending a seven-game winless streak at Columbus Crew Stadium. Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution Academy) scored a goal in the 54th minute as the New England Revolution played to a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls last Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
