WNT Sep 27, 2009
The U.S. WNT had some special guests at training this afternoon as the entire University of Washington women's soccer team stopped by practice. The Huskies, led by long-time head coach Leslie Gallimore, who hails from close-by Redondo Beach, Calif. (and attended South Torrance HS, the same school as WNT midfielder Shannon Boxx, albeit a few years before) are in SoCal for a pair of games, having defeating UC Irvine in OT on Friday and are preparing to face Cal-State Fullerton on Sunday. Of course, the most famous Husky soccer alum is U.S. #1 Hope Solo, who was an All-American during her time in the purple and gold. After training, Hope took a few pics with the current Huskies, including a past and present pic with UW goalkeepers Kari Davidson (left) and Alex Philips (right) as well as Hope's college GK coach Amy Griffin, who also happens to be a member of the USA's 1991 Women's World Cup championship team and an asst. coach for the U.S. U-17 Women's National Team.
