WNT Feb 7, 2011
In lieu of a real training session, the U.S. WNT spent three hours this morning shooting footage for ESPN for a commercial that will air promoting the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. We can't give away anything about the spot, but the players and crew had fun on a bit of a hot morning and the players performed like Hollywood veterans on the "set"...which was actually just the team's training field. With the big shoot behind them, the U.S. team will hit the weight room tomorrow morning with a training session in the afternoon. The squad will train once on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading home for a eight-day break. The squad will depart for Europe and the annual Algarve Cup on Feb. 18.
No, Heather O'Reilly is not suffering from a rare abdominal affliction...that's a camera strapped to her body.
The best part of a big-time commercial shoot for Alex Morgan and Kelley O'Hara? The snack table with spinach-artichoke dip and chips, of course.
