The U.S. team took in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final at the Dresden Fan Park, sitting in the VIP area with the Switzerland and Ghana U-20 teams (not sure where the South Koreans were). The players had a blast watching the match on a huge screen, but left at the start of overtime to watch the rest of the game back at the team hotel (it was getting late in Germany after all). The players got back in time to watch the last 20 minutes of overtime and of course the World Cup-winning goal from Andres Iniesta. As the ball struck the net, a huge roar went up from the U.S. team's floor, and then the players surely went off to sleep with dreams of World Cup goals bouncing around in their heads. U.S. co-captain Sydney Leroux said a few words to the assembled fans before the match as Dresden is doing a good job trying to whip up some support for the U-20 Women's World Cup matches here.
