The U.S. U-20 Women's World Cup Team did not train today, but as today was the team's scheduled practice session at the game field, the squad did a walk-through of Miyagi Stadium, getting its first look at the massive venue that will host the USA-Germany clash on Aug. 27 (2:50 a.m. ET on ESPN2 and ESPN3).
Miyagi Stadium, which seats 49,000, hosted three matches of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, including the ill-fated (for the host country) quarterfinal against Turkey. It will now play host to the first-ever meeting between the USA and Germany during group play at a Women's World Cup at any level.
The players saw the locker rooms and spent some time on the field relaxing and talking about the team and the tournament. At one point, a game of kick ball threatened to break out, but that would not have been wise 48 hours before the Germany match given the competitive nature of this team.
