After arriving in Philadelphia today and getting settled at the hotel, futbol met football as the team trained during the afternoon at the Philadelphia Eagles practice facility. After training, a football came out (the kind made out of pigskin) and some of the U.S. players tossed it around a bit. Turns out, DaMarcus Beasley has a gun on him. We found out that while he kicks left, he throws right and the U.S. midfielder can really zip it. We were hoping that Kevin Kolb or Michael Vick might show up to toss it around with Beasley, but no luck. Former U.S. asst. coach John Hackworth, now an asst. for the Philadelphia Union, also made an appearance at practice and it was nice to catch up with the much-liked and respected former staff member. Update on the crowd on Saturday at LFF: We are approaching 50,000 tickets sold so PLEASE get there early and perhaps soak up some up the atmosphere for what should be a rousing send-off for our guys to South Africa.
