Can you believe that the USA's flight from Newark, N.J. to Lisbon, Portugal took just six hours and four minutes? Now that's some serious tailwind. It's taken us longer to get from New York to California. Not only that, but after some early day flight issues, every member of the USA's travel party made the flight to Europe, including Lauren Cheney, who was the last to arrive, touching down on her connecting flight just as the flight to Lisbon was boarding. Not only that, but every piece of luggage arrived as well. When you travel as much as the U.S. WNT, you come to appreciate a good travel day. The U.S. team arrived in Lisbon around 8:15 a.m., packed up the gear in a big truck, and boarded the bus for a three-hour bus ride south to the Algarve region. The team trained in the late afternoon under some cold, off-and-on rain, but that is not supposed to persist. Last year, it rained hard for two weeks before the team arrived and every field in the Algarve was a muddy mess.
Some sleepy U.S. players await the arrival of the team gear upon arrival in Lisbon
Kelley O'Hara, with fellow Stanford alumna Nicole Barnhart, is not calling herself a loser, she's just signaling the teams' arrival in Lisbon
