WNT Sep 24, 2009
Only one training today for the WNT, but it was a long one and it was hot. Really hot. It only seemed to getting hotter as practiced progressed. (Although that didn't stop the coaching staff from some serious games of soccer tennis following the training). The team ended with some 11 v. 11 scrimmaging, but only for 15 minutes. They will go a full 90 on Friday and hopefully, it will be a tad bit cooler. Today was "lunch on your own" so the players spread out over numerous local eateries, followed by naps for most players, then dinner and a meeting on fitness. If there is one thing that these players are serious about (and there are actually many things), it's their fitness. It's amazing how few youth or college players get to consistently play 90 minutes. Not so at the international level where you must be able to perform at the highest level for the full 90, and sometimes 120. Tomorrow is a double-day, with some lighter technical work in the morning and a full training in the afternoon leading into TGIFS: Thank God It's Friday Scrimmage.
