That's the message delivered by Mark Verstegen, founder of Athletes' Performance, to the team as they depart Phoenix after nine days of training, fitness and strength exercises, and nutritional education.
The charismatic speaker spent nearly an hour counseling the players on a holistic approach to achieving success in their professional careers, summed up in the mantra 'Every Day is Game Day'. Living this philosophy means taking a 24-hour approach to being an athlete, from proper rest, to getting the proper fuel (foods, hydration, nutrients), and fine-tuning the machine that is your body. Most importantly, Verstegen pointed out that the biggest element to achieving success sits 'above the neck', meaning your attitude, approach, mental fortitude, and willingness to be open to new ideas.
Demonstrating how a professional career in sports occupies a very short window in an athlete's life, Verstegen's inspirational talk reinforced the need for players to take advantage of this opportunity and illuminated a path for reaching the highest level possible.
