After Friday’s game, the U.S. team spent Saturday recovering with 11 players that started taking another trip to the spa and the rest heading over to train nearby.... Days after games are centered around providing the best opportunities for players to properly recover.
For example, here's how yesterday looked:
9 a.m. - Breakfast
10 a.m. - Nine players head to training
10:30 a.m. - 11 starters are off to the spa for recovery
11:30 a.m. / 12 p.m. - Both groups finish up and head back to their rooms to shower
1 p.m. - Lunch
2 p.m. - Rest and relaxation
4 p.m. - Massages and treatments for any knocks they might have picked up during the game
6:30 p.m - Dinner
7:30 p.m. - Stretching session at the hotel to get a good final stretch in for the night and continue the recovery process
10 p.m. - One more snack, followed by lights out
Three days between games seems like a long time, but they go by quickly and it’s important to make sure everyone is in peak form.
