You might have read in an earlier post that the U.S. team changed hotels in the Algarve this year after staying at the same place for about the last decade. One of the unexpected perks of the move has been the AMAZING salad bar at every lunch and dinner. It's a salad bar fit for a Roman Emperor, if they had salad bars back then. There are like six or seven different kinds of lettuce, a plethora of veggies, proteins like chicken, ham and tuna, four or five delicious and freshly-made dressings (including an Abby Wambach requested garlic and olive oil mixture that's become known as "Abby's Choice" as in, "who finished off the Abby's choice!?"), as well as fresh, and we should highlight "fresh" mozzarella and feta. There are probably some other things we're forgetting. And they put out huge bowls like at a Soup Plantation or something for the players to fill to their heart's content. Needless to say, the players have been devouring the healthy meals. When there is pasta, rice or grilled chicken (which is at almost every meal), the players will throw that in their salad too. And the bread to mop up the remains? Fresh, plentiful and yummy. As you can see by Yael Averbuch's salad below, some of them are masterpieces...
