The U.S. has officially gone through to the quarterfinals after Panama topped Suriname this evening in Group B action. The loss leaves Suriname with zero points through the group round, and the U.S. and Panama tied with three each. The Americans hold the edge on tiebreakers because we beat Suriname by four goals while Panama won 3-0. That means that a draw with Panama on Saturday is enough to finish at the top of the group.
For the crossover quarterfinal match, the U.S. will play either Honduras or host Guatemala. Both teams beat Jamaica, eliminating the Caribbean side.
It will all be settled on Saturday evening - the U.S. kicks off vs. Panama at 4 p.m. local time (6 p.m. ET) and Guatemala plays Honduras immediately afterwards.
