With the 2009 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase and Nike International Friendlies (that’s a mouthful, no?) set to kick off tomorrow, teams from all over the country have descended upon the Reach 11 Sports Complex. There will be 154 teams arriving across the next day or so, gearing up to play 234 games between Friday and Tuesday.
The U-17 national teams of the United States, Portugal, Brazil and the Netherlands have arrived and begun training at the complex ahead of the weekend full of international friendlies. As a reminder, you can catch all three U.S. matches against Portugal (Friday), Brazil (Saturday) and Netherlands (Monday) at 7 p.m. MT on Fox Soccer Channel.
Meanwhile, the players lounge is set up, the fields are lit and ready to go for a full slate of games that kick off at 9 a.m. our time. There is a LOT happening this weekend, so be sure to keep up with ussoccer.com for extensive coverage of the Showcase, including Studio 90 updates, photos, blogs and more as we power through five exciting days in Phoenix.
