U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Tab Ramos
The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team will face Cal FC at 1 p.m. PT on Sunday at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif. The U-20s, who are wrapping up their first camp since taking second place at the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, originally were to play Chivas USA’s reserve team.
Cal FC will be a formidable opponent for the U.S. U-20s, who are preparing for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup from June 21-July 13 in Turkey. Cal FC gained national attention in 2012 when it advanced to the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after beating Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers, becoming the first US Adult Soccer Association team in the modern era to knock off an MLS club.
The match caps off the U-20 squad’s important camp as National Soccer Hall of Famer and U-20 MNT head coach Tab Ramos is prepping his side for its Group A opener against Spain on June 21.
The U.S. qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup with its 4-2 quarterfinal victory against Canada on Feb. 23 at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
