A total of five U.S. players who will suit up tonight have previously scored goals against Panama, including some biggies.
Most fans know that Jozy Altidore tallied the game-winner in the 1-0 win in World Cup Qualifying on June 18 in Sandy, Utah. And that Graham Zusi scored his first international goal in the 1-0 win here in Panama on Jan. 25, 2012, in only his second appearance for the MNT.
Then the digging begins. Clarence Goodson's magnificent effort came on a less auspicious occasion, coming in the USA's 2-1 loss on June 11, 2011, that marked the team's first loss in the history of Gold Cup group play. Kyle Beckerman leveled the score with his first international goal in the 2009 Gold Cup quarterfinal, and the U.S. went on to win 2-1 to advance.
Perhaps the biggest goal award goes to Brad Davis, who way back in 2005 converted the winning penalty in the shootout that lifted the United States to the 2005 Gold Cup title.
