Twenty-five of the finest women's soccer players in the country have convened in Los Angeles for the first U.S. Women's National Team training camp of the year. Eight veterans, plus defender Ali Krieger, are not at camp, which gives these next six days a youthful feel for sure. Krieger is involved in some important matches and training with her club in Germany and was not released, while the eight veterans are getting some extra time to rest before a extremely busy year gets started. U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage is not in camp either, as she must travel to Zurich, Switzerland tomorrow for the FIFA Gala Awards where she is up for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women's Soccer. Pia will get high-tailing it out of Switzerland ASAP after the event to get to LA to coach her team and make some final decisions on who will go to China for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in China.
2011 has begun...ready, set, go!
