WNT Aug 13, 2010
The next big hurdle for the U.S. WNT is qualifying for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. If all goes well in Mexico in October and November, the USA will participate in its sixth Women's World Cup tournament next summer in Germany and then a year after that, the 2012 Olympics will commence in London, England (for which the USA will have to qualify as well). Looking that far ahead, the USOC website has profiled 12 top hopefuls for London and U.S. forward Abby Wambach is one of them. Abby missed the 2008 Olympics with a broken leg, so to be in London would be extra special for the 5-foot-11 U.S. striker. Read more about Abby in this 12 for '12 feature on teamusa.org.
