You know who the flight attendants always tell you over the P.A. that you need to "open the overhead compartments carefully as baggage may have shifted during flight..."? Well, they're right. Just ask U.S. midfielder Lori Lindsey. As the U.S. plane pulled to a stop at the gate in Lisbon and the familiar "ding" signaled that passengers could unbuckle and start grabbing their stuff, a woman opened the compartment directly over Lori's head. Tumbling down came what we later identified as a bag containing at least three bottles of wine. Ouch. Luckily it was a glancing blow that caught shoulder as well. Lori was fine and the women was sincerely apologetic, but seriously, it's all fun and games until someone gets conked on the head with a wine bottle. Lori, being a smooth operator, played it cool during the entire incident.
As you can see, Lori was fine as she waited in baggage claim with Megan Schnur and Cat Whitehill. Did you know they have little flag advertisements on the luggage carts at the Lisbon Airport?
