Back in Vienna for the first time since 1998, there are a few connections in the current MNT delegation:
- Terrence Boyd plays for Rapid Vienna, one of two teams in the city in the Austrian Bundesliga. His side plays their home games at Ernst-Happel Stadion, site of Tuesday's match and the host of the USA's last match here, a 3-0 win on April 22, 1998.
- Before receiving a one-time change of association to play for the United States, midfielder Jermaine Jones played his first game for Germany here in Vienna in a 3-0 win in a friendly against Austria on Feb. 6, 2008, also at Ernst-Happel-Stadion.
- U.S. assistant coach Andi Herzog lives in Vienna, the former Austria captain stil holding the country's all-time record for appearances (103). Amongst other duties, Herzog heads up the USA's scouting efforts in Europe.
